​⛰ How Tara Dower Set The Fastest-Known Time On The 2,197-mile Appalachian Trail​

On Saturday night, 31-year-old Tara “Candy Mama” Dower made history by setting a new supported speed record on the Appalachian Trail. ​

Dower reached Springer Mountain, Georgia, the southern end of the 2,197-mile trail, after 40 days, 18 hours, and 5 minutes, shaving 13 hours off the previous record set by Belgian runner Karel Sabbe in 2018.

The 129th Boston Marathon, scheduled for April 21, 2025, has set a new bar for qualifiers, with a record-breaking cutoff time of 6 minutes and 51 seconds faster than the standard qualifying times for age and gender categories.

Despite a surge in qualified applicants, more than 12,000 runners were unable to secure a spot in the prestigious race.
