Happy Wednesday! Here's what I have for you today:
🔮 What a 101-year-old runner can teach us about aging well, staying active, and living fully.
💋 If your partner comes to watch you in a race, do not make this mid-race smooch mistake!
👟 Our review of the Brooks Glycerin 22: Supercritical foam + daily runner = gamechanger
👀 After a six-year hiatus due to the pandemic, North Korea’s Pyongyang Marathon returns with 200 international runners entering the reclusive state.
🥳 Looking for an excuse to run a marathon this year? Here are six reasons why you should run a marathon!
At 101 years old, John Cahill, maintains an impressive workout regime. A former lawyer-turned-ski-lodge-owner, Cahill didn’t start running until he was 62. Yet within a decade, he was clocking a 3:05 marathon at age 72—a time that many lifelong runners would envy. In a recent episode of the Running State of the Sport podcast hosted by Amby Burfoot and George Hirsch, Cahill shared stories and lessons from his remarkable life. We pick out 5 epic takeaways that we can all learn from.
By now, you’ve probably seen (or experienced) that moment—an earnest runner, mid-race, attempting to plant a kiss on their cheering partner. The result? A full stop, a lost kiss, and an awkward pivot that would make any coach wince.
We're already considering handing out the award for most improved running shoe of 2025 to the Brooks Glycerin 22.
And while this might, on the surface, look for the latest minor iteration of a long-standing shoe, there's an innovative leap happening in the midsole which changes the game for daily runners.
Could the Glycerin 22 be the shoe that revolutionizes the easy running shoe market?
The Pyongyang International Marathon returned Saturday for the first time since 2019, bringing foreign runners back into one of the world’s most isolated countries — and possibly signaling subtle shifts in North Korea’s internal messaging.
Marathon running is an epic physical endurance feat.

The traditional model of running physiology had three elements: VO2 max, lactate threshold, and running economy. But in recent years, a 4th element has been brought to the table, 'physiological resilience', or durability. Brady Holmer walks us through what it is, why it matters, how we can improve it, and why Kipchoge is the king of physiological resilience.
